After completing the ethical assignments, I think that it really solidified the importance of a nurse’s role in ethics. I think that in order for nurses to provide the best and safest care it is important for nurses to understand ethics. It is important to understand history and past ethical dilemmas. If nurses are aware of these dilemmas, then we can know how to improve upon them and change certain practices that may cause an ethical dilemma. Ethical research has evolved greatly because the world of healthcare has changed based on the research that has been done, which has been able to provide better insight to proper care. There were obviously ethical dilemmas in the past that people were unaware of, but now that there is research we all know ways to avoid these ethical dilemmas. Overall, I think that this course has taught me how to provide better care from a research perspective. I think that being able to understand other research that has been done in the field of nursing helps to further the understanding of what to do and what not to do.
